Extracted from the built environment. Puncturing urban tissues. Collecting relics from unbuilt structures. S44 assembles artefacts of modernity by restoring raw materials into new objects.

In the heart of Amsterdam, located on the southborder of the citycentre, De Nederlandsche Bank is housed in an eye-cathing, brutalist building. Built in the 60’s, designed by architect Marius F. Duintjer, the bankbuilding is an icon of modern mid-century architecture in Amsterdam. From the buildings’ second renovation, S44 sourced leftover concrete cylinders, to turn them into lightobjects.
